Lauterbrunnen ('many fountains') is set in one of the most impressive valleys in the Alps. It features rocky cliffs, gigantic rock faces, peaks, and the roaring, 300m-high Staubbach Falls. The village is blessed with over seventy thundering waterfalls, secluded valleys, colourful alpine meadows, and lonely mountain inns. This explains why it is one of the most significant nature conservation areas in Switzerland.
The clean air, the long hours of sunshine (especially in winter) are some endearing characteristics of Lauterbrunnen. In this village, paragliding, river rafting, or canyoning are some of the great activities to try out. At the same time, walks on the Eiger Trail will avail you of beautiful sights to enjoy.
