Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is widely considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. With its white-washed buildings and blue roofs, it has an old-world charm that shines through in even the most contemporary neighbourhoods, like Chiado and Bairro Alto. Here are ten organic restaurants in Lisbon that will allow you to sample local food while enjoying stunning views of the city skyline or walking along picturesque cobblestone streets.

1. Prado, Lisboa, Portugal -

Spot

Located in Travessa das Pedras Negras near all of Lisbon’s main attractions, Prado is a firm favourite amongst locals and tourists alike. The menu offers plenty of tasty vegetarian options including curries, risottos and tagines alongside meaty meals such as tender lamb shanks. This charming setting makes it an ideal spot for both lunch and dinner although note that if you don’t fancy waiting for a table you can get served at one of their bars instead.

The restaurant has always been a place where time seems to standstill. A place that draws on our imagination through its paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and furniture pieces. The originality of Prado rests in the concept that everything has been created to work together: from the decor to the food, from the musicians to the ceramics. A successful fusion between art and design.

All dishes are inspired by and made with national, seasonal, and fresh ingredients. Basically, if it's not in season, it's not on the table.

4. PizzaGira, Lisboa, Portugal -

Spot

This recently opened pizzeria stands out for its high-quality ingredients and exceptional service. The small restaurant has a very friendly and laid-back atmosphere and serves up pizza which has been praised by customers around Portugal.

The selection is limited but each pizza comes topped with high-quality toppings such as tomatoes, cheese made from ewe’s milk, fresh basil, local olive oil and 100% natural sourdough bread.

The restaurant sources ingredients mindfully, prioritizing small-batch and local suppliers. For example, the organic vegetables come from farms in Sintra, Bio oyster mushrooms from Nam Mushroom Farm in Lisbon, and organic ham from the Alentejo.

In addition, the team cares about every detail – from the team’s hand-sewn aprons to the thoughtfully designed oblong boxes. These terrazzo boxes are a nod to one of the oldest forms of recycling and, thanks to the disposable inner tray, are designed to be recycled.

Prices are fair considering the overall quality of food and attentive service at Pizzagira, making it one top choices when dining out in Lisbon.

6. Erva, Lisboa, Portugal -

Spot

Erva is a restaurant with two different atmospheres, making it the perfect place for both intimate dinners and night outs. The first room is light with high ceilings and white walls. It fills up quickly for dinner; however, there are still tables available even late at night when people come to eat after clubbing. During these hours they play relaxing music that doesn't interrupt conversation but also isn't too loud.

The second area of the restaurant is darker than the first one because most of the lights are red. It feels more like an exclusive bar than a restaurant due to low lighting and very limited seating on plush couches instead of benches or chairs round wooden tables. This area is mainly used during occasions such as birthdays or business dinners. If you are looking for a conversation or just to have some chill time with friends, there is always the first room of the restaurant available.

Whenever you go to Erva it is better to make a reservation in advance because this place gets crowded very quickly.
